A South African surgical foundation

Life-changing surgery should not depend on what a family can afford.

Madaree Foundation brings together volunteer specialists, partner hospitals and founding sponsors to help patients receive safe, dignified surgical care.

Making surgery possible

We coordinate the people, places and resources that make surgical missions work.

The foundation is designed around a simple idea: no single person can solve the surgical backlog alone, but many partners can make a real difference together.

🩺

Patients are screened

Each case is reviewed and prepared before a mission so the right patients reach the right surgical teams.

🏥

Hospitals partner

Partner hospitals help unlock theatres, wards and local clinical support for scheduled mission days.

🤝

Doctors volunteer

Specialists, anaesthetists, nurses and allied professionals donate time and skill through a credentialed roster.

💙

Sponsors fund impact

Founding partners help cover consumables, logistics, patient support, systems and mission readiness.

Why this matters

Many surgical conditions are treatable. The barrier is access.

A child born with a cleft condition. A grandparent losing sight to cataracts. A burn survivor unable to use a hand freely. These are not abstract statistics — they are people waiting for a chance to live differently.

Madaree Foundation is being built to help bridge that access gap through focused surgical programmes, transparent reporting and strong clinical governance.

Founder & Medical Director

Led by the medical reputation of Prof Anil Madaree.

Professor Madaree’s career in plastic and reconstructive surgery, teaching and voluntary surgical missions gives the foundation its medical centre of gravity.

The organisation is being designed so that his role remains focused on medical leadership, standards, credibility and opening the right doors — not day-to-day administration.
