Cleft lip & palate
Helping children and adults affected by cleft conditions access safe reconstructive care.
Care that changes more than a diagnosis.
This programme is designed for patients whose surgical need is real, whose access is limited and whose lives can be materially improved through safe, planned surgery.
Patients will be assessed through a structured intake pathway and reviewed by the relevant senior clinical lead before being placed on a mission list.
What this programme must deliver.
Feeding and early development
Cleft conditions can affect feeding, growth and early family confidence.
Speech and confidence
Care can support speech, appearance, confidence and social participation.
Specialist-led review
Patients should be reviewed by appropriate reconstructive and allied-care professionals.
Sponsors help cover the practical costs behind free care.
Volunteer skill is only one part of a mission. A safe surgical mission may require consumables, lenses or specialist equipment, patient transport, accommodation, theatre support, post-operative care, administration and reporting.
