Future disciplines
The foundation should expand only when the right clinical leaders, partners and funding are in place.
Expansion must be clinically led.
The Madaree Foundation is designed to grow beyond its launch programmes, but not by opening every possible category at once.
Each new discipline should have a senior medical chair, defined screening criteria, partner hospital capacity, sponsor support and a realistic follow-up pathway.
Paediatric orthopaedics
Conditions such as clubfoot complications, congenital deformities and selected post-trauma cases may fit a mission model.
Trauma reconstruction
Reconstructive support for selected trauma and violence survivors where surgery can restore function and dignity.
ENT and hearing-related care
Selected paediatric and cleft-related ENT interventions may be added with appropriate clinical leadership.
Skin cancer excision
High-need communities may benefit from screening and timely excision programmes.
Hand surgery
Congenital hand differences and post-trauma reconstruction may suit focused specialist missions.
Cross-border missions
Longer-term African mission work may be considered once South African operations are stable.
