Burn reconstruction
Restoring movement, comfort and dignity for burn survivors.
Care that changes more than a diagnosis.
This programme is designed for patients whose surgical need is real, whose access is limited and whose lives can be materially improved through safe, planned surgery.
Patients will be assessed through a structured intake pathway and reviewed by the relevant senior clinical lead before being placed on a mission list.
What this programme must deliver.
Movement and function
Contractures can limit hands, arms, necks and faces. Surgery can restore function.
Children and families
Many burn survivors need long-term care, counselling and follow-up.
Careful case selection
Burn reconstruction requires strong screening, planning and post-operative care.
Sponsors help cover the practical costs behind free care.
Volunteer skill is only one part of a mission. A safe surgical mission may require consumables, lenses or specialist equipment, patient transport, accommodation, theatre support, post-operative care, administration and reporting.
